This resource has been created to support the teacher's judgement of a child’s reading ability at the end of KS1. The TAF Statements (Teacher Assessment Framework) have been used to build up the assessment check boxes. Two reading record sheets that are carefully colour coded to match with the TAF Standards for EXPECTED STANDARD readers.
These reading record grids have extracts of 87 - 90 words from 'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Drew Daywalt' and 'A Squash and a Squeeze' by Julia Donaldson.
They monitor:
Blending words containing taught phonemes
Two or more syllables
Common exception words
Sounding out unfamiliar words
Retelling the story
Number of correct words read
Time taken to read
Words with common suffixes
Ability to self-correct
Literal Question
Inference Question
This resource is record grids only. We recommend providing the children with a copy of the texts to create a natural 1-1 reading environment.
Disclaimer – we do not make resources for any governing body or local authority. These reading TAF evidence sheets are purely a creation from Primary Resource Rack which we feel would be beneficial for teachers looking for additional evidence to back up teacher assessments for reading.
