Unit Overview
In this unit the children will listen to and enjoy the story Funny Bones by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. They will join in with the first page, noticing some of the repetitive vocabulary (dark, dark). We will identify some key words ‘big’ and ‘little’. The children will discuss the story with their peers suggesting what they liked and disliked about the story. They will label a simple diagram of a skeleton using the key words discussed throughout the shared read. The children will then go on to orally rehearsing a sentence about the story and practise writing it into their English books / writing frame.
